Sybil Danning (born May 24, 1947) is an Austrian actress known for her many roles in B-movies, science fiction films, and action movies.
Danning was born in Ried im Innkreis, Austria as Sybille Johanna Danninger. She became an actress after leaving home around 1968 at the age of 16.
By the 1980s, Danning was a sex symbol. Some of her best known appearances include Malibu Express, Battle Beyond the Stars, Reform School Girls, Chained Heat, They're Playing with Fire, and an episode of the 1980s TV series V. Danning had her own video line in the 1980s called Adventure Video through USA Home Video. Danning is the host of her own successful special collection of 26 action adventure movies that bear the title Sybil Danning's Adventure Video for USA Home Video/Carolco/Artisan. Known for her many elaborate costumes, here she was outfitted to suit the various movie themes. In 1989, Danning re-teamed with the producers of Bluebeard, The Three Musketeers, The Four Musketeers, and The Prince and the Pauper to play a succubus on the TV series Superboy. Danning would appear at the beginning, spout one-liners, introduce the movie and then return at the end to wrap it up.
She was featured in a nude pictorial in the August 1983 issue of Playboy, including the cover. While she still continued to make appearances at science fiction conventions, her role in 2007's Jump! with Patrick Swayze is her first on screen appearance since 1989. In 2007, Danning appeared in the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez film Grindhouse in the Rob Zombie-directed segment "Werewolf Women of the S.S." as deranged S.S. officer Gretchen Krupp. Danning appeared in Rob Zombie's Halloween as Nurse Wynn which is also a 2007 production.
As of 2000, Danning has been serving as President and Chief Operating Officer for Adventuress Productions, which she co-founded in 1989 with S. C. Dacy and Robert P. Palazzo.
