Kanako Urai, better known as Asuka is a Japanese professional wrestler, who competes in World Wrestling Entertainment.
Urai began her professional wrestling career in the AtoZ promotion in June 2004, where she remained until retiring in March 2006. She returned to the ring a year and a half later, starting to work as a freelancer for promotions such as JWP Joshi Puroresu, NEO Japan Ladies Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Wave, Smash, Wrestling New Classic, and Reina Joshi Puroresu. Her achievements include winning the JWP Openweight Championship, NEO Tag Team Championship, Reina World Women's Championship, Smash Diva Championship, and Wave Tag Team Championship.
WWE
In 2015, Urai signed a developmental deal with WWE, and debuted in WWE NXT in August 2015. At NXT Takeover: Dallas in April 2016, she defeated Bayley to win the NXT Women's Championship.
Personal Life
She previously worked as a freelance graphic designer and video game journalist, and during her time working with Microsoft, the company sponsored her, allowing her to wear an Xbox 360 logo on her gear. She has released three gravure DVDs, titled Manifesto (マニュフェスト Manyufesuto?, 2011), Manifesto II (マニュフェストII Manyufesuto II?, 2012), and Manifesto Final (マニフェスト Final Manifesuto Final?, 2015). She and fellow wrestler Mio Shirai have also released a gravure DVD together, titled Sadistic Tails (2012).
