Floriana Messina (born May 3, 1989 in Potenza, Basilicata) is an Italian TV personality who appeared in Big Brother Italy 12. She is a TV sport presenter / football program host and model. In 2019, she underwent a breast augmentation surgery, which brought her to F Cup [1]
Career
Up to the age of 16 Floriana was a rising female footballer who had signed up on a youth contract for S.S.D. Napoli Femminile. She was believed to be of international quality and would most like have gone on to captain the Italian national side. However, she suffered an injury during tracking which prevented her from running for a whole year. When she returned to Napoli CF her skill or confidence on the ball had suffered and she retired from professional football aged 17.
In 2011, Floriana was a contestant on the 12th series of Italian Big Brother. This exposure eventually led to her amassing what is now (as of 2021) over 479,000 followers on Instagram.[2]
Following her success on Big Brother she did modelling and advertising.
Floriana maintained links with football and S.S.C. Napoli and kept a strong interest in both the men’s and women’s game. This provided an opportunity to join Canale 9’s Tutti in Campo in Italy reporting on the Serie A which she continues to co-host. She also regularly appears as pundit on other football programmes.[2]
Personal Life
Floriana is confirmed lesbian and is known to be in a civil union with a professional female footballer. Beyond this however nothing, including the identify of her wife, is known; Italy is a conservative country regarding homosexuality, it is legal and accepted, but not discussed and largely ignored.
Floriana has said Italy is a great country to be lesbian. In other countries she would be hounded by media, but in Italy she is free from harassment and can live as she wishes without fear. People often ask her if she has a husband, when she tells then she has a wife the conversation ends.
