Editors who add a certain site into each and every article in the site

Every once in a while, a new user comes by and starts adding a certain site into practically every article. You might want to have some sort of a page where users would have to ask permission to do that first. That is, they would describe that site, try getting permission from you to put it in each and every article and - most importantly - learn how to at least link to external sites right (lately we've seen everything from pure HTML codes to just putting pure URLs in random locations). -Biguns 06:00, 18 March 2008 (EDT)

Format of external links

Many editors just add titles, that is: [http://whatever... title]. Some also forget the "*". Please make it either:

* {{Cite web}}

(click on the template to get its parameters)
Or, if you're too lazy, at least respect your fellow users enough to add ", domain.com" after the link so we'll know what we're dealing with:

* [http://subsite.known_viruses.com/modelX ModelX's bio], subsite.known_viruses.com

Thanks! Admins, I hope you'll consider adding this to the actual help page. -Biguns 19:58, 19 March 2008 (EDT)

I think Biguns is referring to my additions at Rachel Aldana and, possibly, Big Breasted Japanese AV Actresses. As I pointed out at Bigunses talk page, I am a big fan of the {{cite}} template, and use it regularly. However, I added some external links in a quick and dirty format at the Aldana article because I thought it was better to have the links, even poorly formatted, than to lose them (they are taken from a doomed Wikipedia article). I trust that regular editors of the article will clean them up, and even if not-- unlike some Wiki-like sites I know-- I trust that we here prefer the addition of information, no matter the format, to discouraging additions if they don't meet such-and-such a technicality. About the Japanese list-- That is a long-running project of mine here (possibly one of the longest at the site?). As anyone who has followed that article's history knows, the links are put in temporarily to point to existing information on each subject listed until that subject has her own article. Once the article is in place, the links are moved there and properly formated. Formatting them with the {{cite}} template at the list would be cumbersome, sloppy, and a waste of time better spent finding sourcing. Anyway, I hope we here focus on content over form, as focusing the other way around leads to all sorts of unconstructive in-fighting. Dekkappai 20:32, 19 March 2008 (EDT)
Trust me, I wouldn't have written such a section just because of one user and a single example (where you may have saved links from their doom). :-) Anyway, no harm done, but you're just one in many who do this. That is, there are way more editors who leave it to others to fix than editors who actually fix. It's just reality. So in the long term it's not possible to fix everything and it affects the way the site looks and feels. If you're in a hurry, just don't forget there's also the quick method #2. A comma and a domain in the end makes a huge difference.
OK, I'll keep it in mind. Personally, not big enough a deal to me to make it into any kind of policy-- like I say, I use the {{cite}} template when I'm doing my real editing. But for quick cut&paste jobs, I'll put the domain name in after the link. (By the way, your user name is a pretty good translation from the Japanese of my own.) Cheers! Biobox Template

The section of the help page referring to the Biobox links to the old deprecated Biobox template instead of the new one. Loose cannon 10:20, 13 April 2009 (EDT)

The first line of the Inserting images section states "To insert an image into the Biobox, please see Biobox help". However both links in this sentence confusingly link to inline anchors (i.e. on the same page) just a few lines above the link itself. Clicking on the link can seem to cause nothing to happen if the browser is already displaying the anchors being linked to. It would be much better to have one link directed to the new Biobox template itself. --Loose cannon 01:01, 18 April 2009 (EDT)

That new link to the Biobox Template actually goes to the deprecated old Biobox template instead of the new template. --Loose cannon 13:29, 19 April 2009 (EDT)

Image file size

I think it would be worth adding a sentence to the "How do I upload an image" section stating that "Image file sizes should be no larger than 150kB."--Loose cannon 18:45, 20 October 2009 (EDT)

Suggestion on thumbnail image width for landscape photos

This has possibly been discussed before but I couldn't see how to search the talk/discussion pages on the site. If so, forgive me and feel free to link to the discussion. The "Please do not make thumbnails more than 240 pixels wide" guideline makes perfect sense for portrait photos as they will be taller than they are wider. However landscape orientated images look really small when they're resized to a width of 240px. See for example the image at Callie Dee. I would propose that the max image width for landscape photos be 360px and that the quoted sentence be changed to "Please do not make thumbnails more than 240 pixels wide for portrait (images that are taller than they are wider) photos or 360px for landscape (wider but less high) photos". --Loose cannon 14:26, 2 January 2010 (EST)

Inserting Images

I've noticed that pages containing image galleries are headed "Free pictures" or "Gallery" and it would be good to have consistency throughout the site. The recommended code in relevant help section specifies "Free pictures" so this is what I always use while editing. It'd be worth updating this help section if "Gallery" is the preferred term.--Loose cannon 11:02, 25 January 2011 (EST)

For general collections of images, I prefer "Gallery." "Free pictures" was originally for photos from affiliates that Boobpedia has permission to use. I don't think we should use "Free pictures" on pictures that aren't ours to give. The Honorable 19:08, 25 January 2011 (EST)
Thanks for the clarification which makes sense to me. It'd be worth updating the help page so that other new editors know which phrase to use when adding images. --Loose cannon 10:00, 26 January 2011 (EST)
Ah, I was wondering why everyone always used the phrase "Free pictures"... :) I've updated the FAQ. The Honorable 17:40, 26 January 2011 (EST)

External link guidelines - tube sites

I noticed an editor recently added a link to a video on a streaming "tube site". I always figured that links to such sites were not allowed using the same reasoning as that for galleries. Also, most of these tube sites would also be disallowed as "Websites using content illegally" and "Websites with excessive advertising, pop-ups, spyware etc." It might be worth making this explicit for newcomers to the site in the External link guidelines. --Loose cannon 08:47, 18 February 2011 (EST)

Problem with server

Hey guys I have been having problems with the site while surfing. Some pages do not charge properly and page format turn on red background and small text. Sometimes the Apache server report an error. Most of these problems are solvented with one o severals forced refresh (Ctrl+F5). --CarterMcCoy 17:42, 9 September 2011 (EDT)

Thanks for mentioning this. I thought it was just me and my crappy Internet connection that had this problem. The red background and small text is caused by the .css (style sheet) file not loading along with the page. A forced refresh doesn't usually work for me unless I wait a few minutes before trying again. --Loose cannon 11:13, 10 September 2011 (EDT)
Yeah, server problems have been just part of the Boobpedia environment for years. It's actually much better than it used to be... Although I can't get redirects to work at all anymore. (Hexvoodoo? If you're listening-- When I make the video stubs-- Boin "Yume Sazanami" Box 2: The Situation of the Super-Breasted Working Girl, for example. Click on the video cover, and it should take you directly to the full video cover image. Instead it takes you to File:BOBB-059s.jpg, which is the redirect page to the full cover image: File:BOBB-059.jpg.) Dekkappai 11:26, 10 September 2011 (EDT)

Browsing catergories with more filters

I wonder if it is posible to add more filters while browsing a category. E.g.: select natural boob inside DD cup category --> show women with natural DD cup. The same with bodytype or ethnicity.--CarterMcCoy 19:13, 5 October 2011 (EDT)

Link typo.?

In the section Help:Contents#How_do_I_link_to_category_pages.3F it suggests adding links in the form << :Category:Category name|linked text >> --that's surrounded by two pairs of square brackets, which I'm not sure how to show here as I don't want to make a link but rather to show the syntax.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like there's an extra/surplus colon at the beginning of that link, i.e. a typo.?

It's not a typo. The colon prevents the page containing the link being added to the category. For example, the colon enables me to link to Category:F cup without this page being added to that category. Teddy 09:00, 15 April 2012 (EDT)

Name of AV idol.

Do the name of AV idol that we see in websites or most of CDs be the real name of her? Thank you very much.
